When you get your new guitar the trem will be flat on the body because the manufacturer tunes it more easily that way. But it can be made to float (off the body) giving you a half step up pitch or down. For now leave it the way it is learn to play and when you want to go up in pitch bend the string and dive with the trem down in pitch. If you are starting out you probably won't use it much. Any well set up Fender guitar should give you years of service the way it is set up from the factory until you become more proficient. Then you will need to start looking for a Floyd Rose Trem equiped guitar for those dive bomb effects desired by shreders which will allow you to go a full step or more in pitch. Or it might just happen like for me that you prefer playing chords and rythems instead of shreds. Don't get me wrong though. I like a good shred just as much as the next guy.

Enjoy your journey,
