I played the Classic Vibe Custom the other day and loved it!!! How does the sound compare to the 50's CV? I'd love to know what the difference is from anyone who might have played both.

Thanks

If you are talking about the Squier Classic Vibe 50's Tele... I think it is the best Squier guitar made today... The body is made of Pine which is soft and light, but it has a super hard poly finish, so you have a very good paint job. The maple neck is outstanding. I think that white 50's Tele is cream of the crop. And if you want to jazz it up, you get an anodized gold metal pickguard and it looks amazing.

I have both the 50's and 60's CV Tele and the CV 60's Strat and I like the 50's Tele the best. The other two guitars are also outstanding, but that white tele is my fav, hands down.

Between the 50's and 60's CV Strat... The 60's model sounds much better. The 50's model sounds glassy and quacky... It has a place in the lineup, but if you want that Texas heat.... Get the 60's CV Strat. I would like to have both, but I had to pick the one to get first and went with the 60's. I put a solid steel trem block in it from Guitarfetish.com and Seymour Duncan Antiquity II Texas pickups in it. I changed the nut to a Graphtec TUSQ and the tuners to Sperzel locking. This guitar is heaven.

Thanks for the great review of those guitars. I think that these CV guitars are just amazing. In a couple of reviews that I posted, I made the point that I won't say that they are better than some of the USA Tele's and Strats, but they are extremely well constructed and all have great unique sounds. The Classic Vibe Custom that I bought, has almost Les Paul like sustain with some real Tele spank. It is one of the most interesting sounding guitars that I have come across in a long time. It just has a ton of character to the sound.

This is the most fun that I have had with a new guitar in a long long time.

I only played the 50's Tele for a short time, but loved it as well and I can't wait to go down and try the 60's Strat. If I had the $, I would buy all of them.

I sent and email to the marketing dept at Fender telling them that I really feel that if they don't market these guitars as a very good and unique brand, they are all going to get passed up by name-brand guitar snobs and by cheap guitar shoppers who will just buy the affinity series and mod them. I really want to see these guitars advertised well.

I can't wait until my kids are big enough for a full sized electric. I would love to buy them the CV series guitars.

Tried one a few days ago, but I would not say that that particular guitar was light by any means. Haven't seen another to try, but I'm guessing that they vary a lot, just like any other style/model.

I ordered one last year. It arrived quite heavy. I sent it back. The exchange guitar arrived light (I called them and asked them to weigh the guitar boxes and send me the lightest one).

The heavy one sounded incredible but was too heavy to play. The lighter one sounded...pale and lifeless compared to the first one.

Oh, and the color of the body and neck tinting were different. The heavy one was off white with a lighter tint, the lighter one was more greenish white with a darker tint. The necks felt completely different.

It's a hit or miss proposition with the CV 50's tele. But, it's a hit or miss on the American teles too. So...
