I have a 1983/4 Squier Bullet (made in Japan) that I have left sitting around too long. Either the wiring or something appears to be bad but I have no idea how to diagnose / fix or where to get a replacement, if possible.

When you press on the pickup switch you can make the line to the amp disconnect or connect depending on how you press it. For the most part it stays connected, but if you touch it the wrong way you get disconnected. This also happens when you press down on the volume knob, or turn it too fast? - you can get disconnected from the amp.

I'm new to all this so be forgiving! What should I be looking for?
Cheers
