I recently traded for a used Squire Tele made in Indonesia. Being the owner of a few Fender Strats and Teles I really didn't expect much from this Guitar. Having said this, after cleaning and setting this thing up properly I am amazed at how well I like playing this thing and the tone I get with it. One thing I'm confused about though is the way the neck pickup is mounted. It has humbuckers on the neck and bridge that are the original pickups used in this model and are not the wide range humbuckers used in the Fenders. The neck pickup is installed with the pole screws facing the bridge instead of the neck. Anyone know if this is the correct positioning or has someone reversed the way this one is installed? Thanks for any help.

Welcome.

I presume you mean the adjustable polepieces are facing the bridge with the slug polepieces facing the neck. Typically, this would not be the case so someone did indeed put it in backwards for aestetic and/or sonic reasons or the pickup's lead cable may have simply been too short for the pickup to be installed 'normally'. Premising the lead cable is long enough, you can dismount and remount the pickup to it's 'conventional' appearance.

Martian,
Thanks for your input on this. Since posting this I also got online for info on this and found that there were a few of the older "blues greats" that reversed the neck pickup one of them Peter Green. I think it may have been for that constant search for the perfect tone in our head that we all search for. Thanks again. S.Bender
