I have been looking at the Squier website and they have a Signature Series guitar called the "Simon Neal" Artist Series Stratocaster. I don't know or care who this guys is, but I like the Tele they made for him. It is pretty basic, but it can be modded to be better. I love the Fiesta Red color and the Rosewood neck.

They say this model is only available in the UK.

Does anyone have any idea on how to get on of these? I want to turn it into a poor mans Knopfler strat.

Does anyone out there have any UK connections or any connections for someone who can order a guitar only sold in the UK..

Thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated.

Here is a link to the model.

Thanks in advance,

Hi, this won't exactly answer your question but Simon Neil is the lead singer/guitarist for Scottish Rock/Pop band Biffy Clyro (don't let the 'Rock/Pop' tag put you off, they are seriously credible and very talented). Simon has been a strat fanatic for years and the Squier is based on his favourite 60s strat; as such it is quite a step above any other Squier strat made so far. Search youtube and you'll find a few excellent reviews (I don't think you'd really require to upgrade much if at all but I know how individualistic I and other guit-slingers can be  ).

Try contactng Squier's UK/European distributers direct, they've usually been helpful to me on the rare occasion I've asked (unlike Fender's reputation elsewhere it seems).

Good luck, and check out Biffy - I think you'll like 'em.

Thank you Restless Native. It is great to hear such positive feedback about this guitar.. I really want one. I love the decade it is modeled after and I love the color. Fiesta Red is a hard color to get a Squier or any Strat these days.

Simon Neil is not a tone snob but he knows what he likes (e.g. loud/clean/clear and loud/heavy/clearly defined sounds). I have never heard anyone sound so heavy with a s-s-s strat without a floor full of pedals. This Squier is so good he uses it live as a back-up and specifically for one or two songs. Not because he has to but because he wants to.

I want one myself but I have 3 strats at the mo' and need to part with 1 (according to Mrs Native). These will be as sought after in the future as the Hank Marvin Signature Squier was/is.

I love Biffy by the way, but my thing is rootsy stuff like Scots/Irish traditional music, folk, blues, bluegrass via rockabilly to 60s British RnB, to Grunge - a broad spectrum.

That model is available in all of Europe, not only UK.

You can try contacting Thomann (probably the largest online shop in the EU), they say they deliver worldwide and they have it on stock.

Here's the guitar - http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_squier_ ... caster.htm

Info about shipping - http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_squier_ ... caster.htm (bottom of the page)

If you have any doubts, just drop them a mail.
