Hey Guys,

I have an 87 E series Squier. It has the Series 1 locking system on it and is totally stock and in great condition. I'm contemplating either selling it or modding it. I don't care for the trem and wondered if anyone had ever put a real Floyd Rose on one of these and if a Floyd will fit the posts already in the guitar? Prob swap out pickups too. If the Floyd won't fit then I will probably sell it or part it out. Are these guitars worth much today or should I just hang on to it?

I had an '87 HM III. It had a Licensed by Floyd Rose tremolo on it. Several years later I had a Floyd Rose Pro put on. It fit the posts, but I could not put the tremolo cover back on. I tell you what, that thing never went out of tune after the strings stretched.

Thanks. I will have to check out the specs on that model. Do you know if it originally had this type of trem. Mine is a Series One made by Schaller, but different than the typical licensed Floyd's. It also has the behind the nut string locking mechanism which I don't care for. Would prefer a normal Floyd trem/nut setup if it's possible with this guitar. If it will work I'll probably keep it. There is just so much contrasting info on the web about these models that it's hard to know what to believe.
