to the best of my knowledge the squire brand is simply made and assembled over seas. \i heard that some of the countrys produce better modles then others. I currently own three squires, an affinity strat, a standard custom tele, and an affinity j-bass. I love them all but I am just curious

\thanks

I'll second that only because I saw a used Japaneese one at Guitar Center that was selling at a premium price.

I have never really played anything other than my Korean.

I don't know about that, I have 3 Indonesian made Telecasters, and all 3 are great guitars. The Indonesian Telecasters are good, or at least the ones I have are.

With the Indonesian models, you're taking a chance.I got a Squier Telecaster Custom for X-mas,that my wife bought me,and I basically had to do a complete set up in order for it to perform to my specs.I had to tighten all the hardware, lower the bridge saddles and reset them so the guitar would stay in tune, and then I had to intonate it.I think that they just build them, throw them in the box and ship them off to who knows where. The best Squiers I've ever had a chance to play, were the Japanese ones from the 80's.Most of those would give a American or MIM strat,a run for their money.

Pretty much every guitar I have bought required some sort of set up tweaks to get it to my liking, but then again, I have never bought a guitar that breaks the 4 digit mark. If I bought an expensive guitar, I'd expect to have to do some tweaks to get it it to my liking as well. I have 4 different Squiers (3 Indonesian and 1 Chinese), and while they all needed a good setup, the consistency of my 3 Teles which are all the same model but from different years, is good.

Well, I can't say anthing about the others but my Squire was made in Indonesia and I'm quite pleased with it. I did some initial tweeking the first day or two, streatched the strings and away I jam! Maybe I got lucky but holds tuning well, and sounds good. Wish I could afford a USA, but for now, I personally like it better than the guys I play with guitars. (Yamaha, Sheckter, Epiphone) And secretly, I think they like it too.

My Indonesian made standard Strat kicks butt! Gorgous glossy sunburst finish, low action (buzz free) on a silky maple fret board, smooth trem unit, stays in tune! I did change the pickups to Lace Sensors (red, silver, gold), the pots and switch are original and crackle free. It blows away my MIM Fender Strat! "For now anyway!" All new guitars need a setup and fine tunning in the beginning, and then a little maintenance now and then. Play before you buy! If a guitar feels and speaks to you in that special way, brand and origin should not even matter!!!!
