Hey everyone I'm new to playing my strat (I've only been playing since Christmas when I got my first electric) and I think I've come a long way since then. But there's still that desire to play even better so any tips on how to get faster, who makes the best preformance amps, which FX pedals are good for classic rock junkies (like myself), or on teaching yourself to play would be awesome, epic and most of all: helpful. If it's nessary to know I play a Squire affinity strat It looks just like my avatar pic (P.S I love it to death it's by far the best present I've ever gotten). Nothing special or customized about it so if it effects your advice there you go.

Congratulations on your progress and for sticking with it. For finger dexterity, I practice spider exercises and scales. There a a lot of online resources...some free and some not. Some of my favorite courses/instructors are: Learn and Master Guitar, Justin Sandercoe, Dan Denley and Griff Hamlin.

I'm not a pedal or amp expert. I keep it kind of simple. I use: Fender Champion and Fender Blues Jr amps and a Ibanez Tube Screamer. Your Affinity is fine. I have 2 Affinity teles and I love them. You can always treat yourself to an upgrade to reward your progress. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum, you will get all the feed back on any issue you have here. I wish for you continued improvement on your playing progression. Here's a couple of free sites that have been helpful to me. And youtube is loaded with lots of free lesson, Marty is one that I like on there.

Different amps will sound better with different pedals. You also have Tube amps vs. Solid state amps. I have been playing for almost 20 years and I am just now ready to switch to tube amps. I feel they offer better tone for Fender guitars. I am impressed with Fender, Marshall, and Orange tube amps. For solid state amps I am partial to Crate, Roland, and Fender. For most "Classic" rock you can get away with just a decent tube amp. Just know to get the amp to break up (distort) you have to turn it up louder.
