Hey everybody, I've been playing drums for almost 10 years, and I've never thought I'd ever play guitar, it just seemed too difficult for me. But what do you know, I had some money saved so I bought a Strat Pack just last week.
I read somewhere that some of these guitars had quality problems or flaws, but either those were rumors or I'm very lucky because my guitar (and everything it came with) feels perfect.
But the truth is, there are so many things to learn that I'm overwhelmed. It took a significant amount of time to get the guitar tuned right, and since I'm just beginning, I have weak fingers and I can't press a string without touching the one below it, causing a horrible sound. The guitar came with some wrenches to adjust the arm of the guitar in case it curves, but I don't dare touch that. Also, at the bridge of the guitar you can adjust the strings, I don't know if it's for tone or for their height, but again, I won't touch anything there.
Anyways, although right know my playing sucks I really do see myself playing guitar in the future, so I'll practice as much as I can.
Anyway, I just wanted to post this to introduce myself and to wish you all happy holidays.
Take care

You are absolutely right, put the tools away in a safe place . Fender did a good enough job of tuning and setting up your guitar and it should last a long time. That arm you refer to is actually a neck and if you turn that allen wrench on the truss rod too much it will crack the neck or separate the finger board. You can mess with the string hight at the bridge but that's all. If you adjust the string length the harmonics (12th fret don't press down) will go out and it will sound out of tune (press down on 12th fret). Speaking about tuning a good quality tuner would be a great investment. Try them out before buying.

As for your chords don't press down just hold your fingers in position and press the notes you need (arpeggiate). There are some great lesson books out there that can explain all this. I like Wolf Marshall Power Studies because they have songs from the 70's and 80's. You can also get lessons online with a Line 6 Pod for about $10 a month. Pricey but they have a lot of cool artists including Wolf Marshall.

Keep practicing, don't give up! Hey if you get Pod Riff Works send me some VH drum tracks .

Happy New Years and keep in touch,

It may not hurt to have a local guitar tech or friend who knows how to set up a guitar take a look at it. As I have bought 5 guitars (4Squiers, 1 Schecter) over the past 2 years, and they all needed a little bit of adjusting right out of the box to get them to play at their best.

Thank you very much, sorry it took so long to answer but the forum is open for posting at the same hours when I'm at work.
Anyway, the string height seems fine to me, so I guess I won't be touching anything for the time being. I don't know any trustable guitar techs, and right now I don't feel comfortable taking my guitar with a total strager, but I'll check some stores out and if I find someone I like, then I'll take it with him or her.
I hadn't heard anything about Pod Riff until now, but I'll check it out and see if I can come up with something, mustangtoo.
Thanks a lot for your help guys, talk to you later.
