Hey

i just recently won a bid on ebay for a 'squier strat'...however i just noticed the back of the guitar is completely smooth- and lacking a tremolo cavity :!: I have no idea how this is possible. I also noticed the guitar was made in indonesia and its serial begins with SI...

Well here's a link to the photo of the back:

Please tell me if I should file a complaint before i submit payment...i have about 5 days left. I'm pretty sure all legit strats have back cavities. dont forget this is not at all a vintage. If you want to see a photo of the guitar's s/n, just say so.

I find it highly unlikely that people would counterfeit a $100.00 guitar. Does this guitar have a stop tailpiece? I've never seen a squier with one so it may be an SX body with a squier neck.

Do you have a picture of the front?

It could be there using a different type of tremolo or it could be a hardtail.

Yes it is a squier hardtail, meaning no tremelo, I found a webpage that had some. Were you wanting a tremelo?

Ok, i couldn't find a picture of a hardtail Squier, but that you surfguitar for that.

Ok, not all strats come with a tremolo, but having a hardtail is not a bad thing, it is far easier to play, if you break a string it don't go out of tune and for all the guitars I have had and own, I hardly use the thing

What I'm saying is, it is not a bad thing.

Yes, I think I would withdraw my bid on this one.

Heres a brand new one, it's brownburst w/tremolo for 119.99 w/free shipping.

Looks like theres a good chance im gonna have to take this loss...

here's the bid: My ebay bid page

I was always planning to repaint the guitar similar to these:

Do you think I could resell the guitar for more than $90, then?

The older Bullets are hardtails. I bought one for my nephew last year for about $80. There is a good chance the body is laminated (plywood-style). But it played well for a first "real" guitar for him and sounds okay. It is NOT a fake. Nor is it a high quality piece. It is however a reasonble guitar for not a lot of money.

Buy it and enjoy it. Paint it, beat it, whatever. you won't be out a lot of money and you can learn a lot about guitar construction and modding with it.

Good luck however you decide to go.

I have seen a hardail bullet like this one in a pawn shop. It s black and white with rosewood.

If you win it, just play it hard and have a good time. If it wears out it will have served it purpose. I think it will be OK.

Don't beat yourself up over it. However be really careful about buying stuff over the internet.

My suggestion, when it comes time to put down a lot of bucks for a higher grade guitar. Go to a reputable music store and buy a new one. You will get a warrenty and assurance that what your buying is real.

:D
