I have 3 Squier Standard Fat Teles which after a good set up, were comparable to some of the MIM Fenders I have played. I haven't played the Customs, but they get very favorable reviews, and if they are anything like the Standard Series Teles, you will be very pleased.

A buddy of mine has a Tele Custom II (same guitar with P-90's). At one point he actually had 2 of them (one black, one blonde), though I think he had to sell the blonde one. He has gigged it professionally on numerous occasions. Like any import production-line guitar, dogs can sometime get past quality control, but in general these guitars have a good rep.
