And I gotta admit that I was impressed. Not real keen on the glossy neck, though. Played it through a VOX AC15...sounded really nice.

I own the CV 60 and it is great. Maple neck with Alnico 3 magnets (CV 50)or Rosewood and Alnico 5 magnets (CV 60) are the only real differences. Bright and crisp vs warm and mellow. The Classic Vibe series is giving the MIM Fender Standard a good run for its money in my opinion.

I personally think the necks on CV Squiers are consistently better. Every MIM Fender I picked up at Sam Ash here in Vegas had frets that would cut into your hands. Big turn off to me for a new guitar. Every CV felt smooth.

I totally agree. I went shopping specifically looking for a MIM or possibly a pre-owned USA Strat. When I walked into the store a beautiful CV60s was sitting on a stand, and I think it may have actually spoken to me.
I couldn't believe the fit and finish of this guitar, it was amazing. Then, I picked it up, fell in love, plugged it in and that was it, I was hooked.

Not wanting to limit my options, I played a few MIMs, and a pre-owned USA model. The CV blew away the MIMs in every way .. at least in my opinion.
I will say the USA model had a bit better sound and a more "refined" feel, but in all fairness, that's not an apples to apples comparison.

For the price, the CV is the best bang for the buck Ive seen in a very long time.
Oh yea, I should add that I bought that little jewel, and I am not sorry I did.

I ordered a CV 60's Tele from Guitar Center and did an instore pickup. They opened the box when I got there so I was the first person to touch the guitar since it left the factory. It was completely setup correctly and the intonation was set properly. The frets were perfect with no filing the edges or high/low frets to work on. I was extremely impressed by this. I love this guitar, but want to put Seymour Duncan Antiquity II 60's Tele Pickups in it and install Fender Schaller locking tuners. This is what I do to all of my Tele's. The Seymour Duncan Antiquity I's are for the 50's style Tele and the Antiquity II's are for the 60's sound Tele. They are hand wound and have incredible natural tone. Once I get that done, my Squiers are as good as about any of the expensive Tele's on the wall. The only other Tele's that smoke the Squier is the Custom Shop model Fender Tele's, but we all know the price tag on those guitars are.

The Squier's are good enough to use for any occasion and a lot of guitar for a very small amount of money.

You have to look at it this way... Not all the Squier guitars are as good or better than MIM Fender. Only the top end Squier. The beginners guitars sell like mad and that makes up half or more of the Squier line. There are a hand full of Squier top enders that compete.. But the Affinity, Bullet, Standard and a few others do not meet Fender MIM standards... I really don't think Squier is hurting Fender. Squier is marketed to Asia, where kids don't have a lot of money.. and there more than a billion Asian's in this world. That is a whole lot of bottom end Squiers to sell. Squier helps the fender cause...

Just my opinion,

TJ

Yo Nugent dude Money is tight in the states too. I have one American Jazz bass yet my cv pbass goes hard. As for the cv strats I've played a few and compared them to MIM and Usa's. Not a single Usa and only one MiM 70's strat could do what I found 3 I said three CV's did. Not to mention a CV Jazz Bass A vintage modified Jaguar Bass which both blew an 1899.00 American P bass away. Grab them while they are hot. Can't wait to get my CV strat.

I must agree. I recently visited a couple of stores and in one they had MIM strats and in the other they had Squier CVs. The frets on the MIMs were very badly fitted, very sharp and not at all playable. As for the CVs they were amazingly smoth and a quality sounding guitar. I have never really been a Strat fan but the CVs have me hooked.

Hey guys, I am right there with you.. I have three guitars. A CV Candy Apple Red 60' Strat, a 50's CV Tele and a 60's CV Tele. I dearly love these guitars. I would really like to have a vintage Fender or a really good Custom Shop model, but I could play these guitars anywhere without blinking an eye. Of course I mod the crap out of them to put the best hardware and pickups I can find on them, but still, the neck and body are superb.

Love live Squier!

+1. I'm saving for a CV 50's right now, and IMO they sound and feel better than most of the MIM Standard's I've played. Necks like butter, and the pickups are well balanced and sound, in a word, great 8)

Hello.

Got my CV 60's strat a week ago and am so happy with it. Only other fender strat that I feel is better are the custom shops there pickups sound beefier compared to the CV. As far as MIM and or Usa these CV's are neck and neck, yes there are differences PRICE lol.
