Sorry, but I wrote the number wrong. It is VN610506. What does it mean? I ofter see an explanation for the first couple of letters and first number, but what do the rest of the numbers stand for? Also, I have not see another number with the letters VN. What do they mean? Thank you for your help.

VN is a serial for a Korean Squire.

The V is for the manufacturer (Sunghan), N is the 90s, yours was probably made in 1996. Unfortunately, no other information can be determined from the other numbers.

As atolleter said, usually the first letter refers to the factory that manufactured the guitar and the second number of refers to the decade in which the guitar was produced. While I could be quite wrong here, I believe I recently read somewhere that the rest of the numbers are more often than not, just the sequential order of the decals on the roll...in other words, say the Fender Mexican plant gets a roll of stickers in the ninties...the letters first two letters would be "M" for Mexico, 'N" for nineties and the first number would indicate the year...say "2" which with the N would = '92 then the rest of the numbers are just the order they are on the roll. Those decals come on a big roll (or a stack perhaps) with each being numbered one higher than the last...doesn't actually indicate anything at all about the specific guitar as one might imagine other than the year and origin (although you'd think that's how they should actually do it huh?). Although with that I've also heard that it tends to vary from plant to plant.

Ok...hope that actually made some sense.
Peace,
Jim

Probably comes out of the factory where Fender orders them from pre-numbered and they add the country letter and year code on top. Which would explain why sometimes they dont line up perfectly with the rest of the sticker.
