Search around on the internet a bit, because I think you can get new ones for less than that. I have seen Squier Bullets for as low as $100 new.

I'm not going to say if you're getting ripped off, I'll let you decide whether or not this is a good deal.

I will let you know that the Bullet Special is now discontinued, but when there were available, they were sold brand new for $99, and I think I have seen some sell for $85. So while I guess since its discontinued, some might say its a collectors item, the Bullet series is more on the lower end of the Squier lines. If your friend has made some modifications though, depending on what those were, it may justify the price.

I will let you know though that for $150, you can get a new Squier Affinity Series, which are a step up from the Bullet Series. However this is mainly online, if you can't shop online, you might not have that many options depending on if there is a local store in your area and how they price their guitars.

I'd say if there are no other options, and you really want to play, then get the Bullet, but if you have some music stores or pawn shops nearby that you can check, then your $150 might be put to better use at one of those places. I don't know if your friend is trying to rip you off on purpose though, because I don't know what they initially paid for it, because while they were $99 online, he may have paid more if he got it somewhere else...
