Sorry I cannot help you. Usually the first letter denotes the country. I may be wrong but I believe yours is made in Mexico. Usually there is another letter denoting (E) eighties or (N) ninties for the decade. the next number is usually the year. You may be ablel to send a personal e-mail to FMIC with your serial number and they can give you a better guess about model and year of your Squier.

WIth this being said, if your SN was in a format like,

MN2****** would denote Mexico 1992 or

ME2****** would denote Mexico 1982

As mentioned you could contact Fender's customer service to have your Serial Number verified.

Thank you for replying to my question about the serial number. I`ve checked and double checked and that is the correct serial number on the headstock, although it does say on there also that it`s made in Koreo, no not Korea, it actually says 'Made in Koreo' on the headstock?? lol!

If you can I'd like to see pics of the headstock and guitar. It could be a typo but you have yourself a Squier Fake. Why anyone would want to fake a Squier I do not know. I still advise writting Fender's or Squier's Customer Service for verification.

Thanks! Have contacted Fender customer services regarding verification and dating but I must admit it sounds like a fake to me too! Made In Koreo with an M serial number? I`m no expert obviously, but doesen`t the M denote being made in Mexico?

Just FYI but there weren't any Mexican guitars in 1982, they didn't start until the early 90s

Yogi,

Thanks for the info. I was just going with a pattern, not stating Squiers were built in Mexico in the eighties. I should have made myself more clear about that. I notice you have one with a M + number on that Squier you pictured. Does yours say "Made on Koreo" as well? Or was his just a Type-o or is the o really an a and is in small print?

I've got a Korean strat with serial number M1013510. There seems to be a few around, but nobody knows where they came from.

I got mine second hand in '91 or '92 I think.

Sorry the picture is so big, I'm new to this.

Too bad the type error isn't like one on a $20.00 Bill. You would be rich!
