I have a Squier Affinity Strat H-S-S configuration. It plays good. Just for some reason there a cracks on the sides of both of the single coils high e side. They're very small. But everytime i use the neck and middle pickup i has a bunch more uneccesary feedback same with the bridge and middle pick-up.

What should i do. The warranty's already gone.

Either sell or trade the guitar for a new one. If you really like the way the guitar plays...upgrade to a set of pickups you like.

Well, if it's just the covers that are cracked, this shouldn't cause any feedback as you describe...the covers are just that...plastic covers. They don't really affect the sound of the pickups at all. This does however lead to the question of -why- they cracked and if the pickups themselves are damaged because of it. To me it almost sounds like the pickups are being "microphonic" (I'll let ya look that one up on your own). -If- you really like the sound of those pickups you could possibly have them re-potted in wax but chances are just getting another set of pickups would probably be cheaper and easier...and would probably sound better too. Take a look at GuitarFetish.com or even Ebay and you should be able to find a couple of halfway decent single coils for fairly cheap. In fact I've often seen full sets of MIM single coils going for as little as $25 - $35 or so...a lot of folks who buy MIM's will often upgrade the pickups right away.

Just my $.02 worth,
Jim
