Short story: When I was younger and stupider I decided that the stock trem unit on my 83 SQ Strat wasn't cool enough and I had a local hack install a "cooler" two point trem unit. A few years ago I bought a OE Fender six screw tremolo and put it on in place of the trashy two point one. The Hack had hogged out the original pick guard to do the job. I have been looking for a replacement pickguard but I am seeing the words "will not fit Squier" on more than one listing. I would have thought that these early Squiers were pretty much replicas of the American made instruments. Does anyone have experience with getting the right parts?
Also, there are two 5/16" holes where the two pivot screws were. I am inclined to leave them empty but I'm curious if more luthier-minded people would fill them with dowels ?

it all really depends on your guitar itself. the holes on all squiers arnt exactly the same as on fenders. to tell you the truth you might have to try a few pickguards before you find the one that will fit, because some strat pickguards fit squiers and others dont. or you can send in a template of your pickguard or your actual pickguard to some companies and they will drill you a new pickguard that is an exact match of your own.

Umm the PG should fit just fine its the holes that won't line up. Since this guitars has already been hacked up, just order a PG and drill new holes, you might only have to do one or 2 at the most. You won't see them anyway.
