I am sorry for the late post, but I had to go and buy a new camera pictures. My other camera had an unfortunate accident when my daughter "borrowed" it without my knowledge.

I did this mod a few months ago, about a month after I did my Highway 1 mod. I had these parts lying around and was looking to change the look of my CV 60. This mod was purely cosmetic. it has a 3 ply white pickguard and parchment white plastic parts.

It went from this:

To this:

I was just wondering, should I put the tortoise pickguard and ages plastic pieces back on?

that guitar looks really good now.
IMO the white guard looks better than the tortoise.

Thanks. It has been like this for a while and I was starting to wonder if I did the right thing to it. I was contemplating putting on black pick up covers and knobs like I did my Highway 1 at the beginning of its mod. Before I put in the Dimarzio humbucker and new white pearloid pickguard it looked like this:

I kinda miss that look for a Strat in my posession. Opinions needed here.

Man!! That made a huge difference IMHO!! I'd leave it like that. It really brings out the color of the burst! Cool RK!! 8)

I will keep it like this. I know in a month or so I will have a new baby to play for a while. So I will quit while the mods for a while.

I'm in the "looks good now" category...I think the white gives it much more of a classic look and in fact I just did that on the MIM I picked up a couple of weeks ago (no pics yet). On the other hand, I don't like tortoise pickguards at all...tortoise picks, yes...pickguards, no.

With my new MIM, I was going back and forth...I kind of, sort of liked the "almost SRV" look with the black pickguard and the white pickups...-and- my wife really liked the look there too because it sort of matched her bass but I really tend to favor the classic looks a lot more. I figured I'd try the white since I had one in the parts box anyways (and I was stripping the guitar down anyways to put a new trem block in)...after all, if I decided I didn't like it later, I could always switch it back next time I change strings or somthing. In my case, once I got the guitar back together there was just no question...I'm sticking with the white (and my wife can just deal with it, LOL!).

Here's the way I look at it (and I'm sure you can probably guess what I'm going to say)...you're the one who has to play it, so it's really up to you. I'd stick with the white myself because that's what -I- like but it's not -my- guitar...if you like it as is, leave it. If you liked the tortoise shell...well...no accounting for taste! LOL! (J/K)

Peace,
Jim
