Right next to the firs selector on my Squier Standard Strat guitar(got it used so dunno what type of standard it is.), there is a small lever. I have no idea what it does but I want to know.

?

It's directly next to the 1st volume control, to the bottom right. right next to the pickup selector, almost right next to it.

Is your guitar equipped with a Humbucker? It could be a coil tap to split the humbucker into a single coil type pickup. That would be my guess.

He's got an additional switch. Can you post a pic? Does the amplified tone change when you use the switch while playing? Sounds like someone modded the guitar.

Do you have a humbucker pickup in any of the three positions? I would bet you a million dollars (if I had it) it is to split the coil. Flip through all 5 positions of the selector switch, flip the toggle switch in ach position. Is there a tone difference?

I have put in a switch like that to a few guitars. It added in the Bridge pickup whenever I wanted.

No, all my pickups are single coil. I think humbuckers on Strats=UGLY!

Then Chet is probably right. It probably adds the bridge pickup when selector switch is in other positions.

My bad, I misread your original post. Its not a stock switch, as others have mentioned, someone modded it for something...

Of course if you really want to know what it does, remove the strings and screws and look under the pickguard. If there are wires coming off it, follow them to where they go. It should give you an idea what the switch does at that point.

If you got it used, is there any way you can ask the store or the person you bought it from if they know? Or maybe you've already tried this...

ooh a mystery switch! it's probably nitrous oxide, flip it when you're burning up some serious lead and it will send you into hyper-drive...
either that or it might add the bridge pickup in 8)
