I have the Classic Vibe and it is a fine guitar. Here it is in the top left:

If you have a chance to play both before buying, that is your best option. However, since you since you mentioned you have played LTD/ESPs for the past 8 years, but need a "drastic change" in guitars, I would go for the Vintage 50s, because most LTD/ESPs I have seen are pretty much similar in layout and features as the John5 (2 humbuckers, volume & tone). But unless you have a custom made LTD/ESP Tele model, there is most likely nothing in your current guitar line up like the Vintage 50. From LTD/ESP to a John5, I see that as a slight or little change, but if you wan drastic, since you said drastic, I'd go with the Vintage 50.

I'm a sucker for the two single coil configuration, and a maple neck. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

Might want to check out the Squier Modified Custom II Tele with the 2 P90s. I'm happy with mine. Same link as rkreisher posted.

I have a custom II and In my opinion it plays about as good as my HWY 1 Fender. It SCREAMS! Try a search on You Tube. That's what convinced me on gettting the Squire with the P90s vs. an Epiphone Les Paul. Try one.

That's interesting. I've seen mostly rave reviews on the Custom II, One guy didn't like the single coil noise But thats just the way it is. 8)

Congrats on the new Tele. Get a new strap with a wide shoulder pad and maybe hold it a little higher. I used to play with my guitar as low as I could reach
Now I have dang it near up to my chin (well maybe not that high) But I don't seem to notice the weight as much. Have Fun and Jam On 8)
