Hi all,

Bought my 5 year old son the Fender Mini Squier Player and when changing the 9v battery he managed to pull the black wire out from wherever it's supposed to attach to. Does anyone know where I can find the wiring diagram? I've checked the Fender site and the Squier site and each seems to have diagrams every guitar but this one.

Thanks

Welcome.

I don't know about where to locate a wiring diagram other than e-mailing Fender Customer Service. However, I'll see if I can help, sight unseen.

If the black wire is on the other end of the 9V battery clip, there's a possibility that it broke off from its own terminal at the input jack. Check there first for tell-tale signs. If this is no help, you'll have to look at the PC board for traces of where it may have been and use the loose black wire as a probe to a terminal for where it most likely was, testing until you hear the guitar working again. Of course, the battery would have to be plugged into the clip for any tangible results. This is a tricky thing though if you're not familiar with tracing PCs negatives and positives as you run the risk of blowing out the preamp if you cross polarities by touching the wrong terminal.

Hope this helps, good luck and let us know how you make out.

Thanks for the reply. The wire is still attached to the battery side (under the little plastic covering) but is detached from the other side. I took a look inside for any clues as to where it came off but can't see anything obvious. Shame is wasn't the red one because where that is attached there is a + sign. Unfortunately there is no minus sign anywhere and, as you say, I'd be afraid of blowing something out by touching the negative in the wrong place.

Will give Fender customer service a try. Just seems strange that I can find the wiring diagrams for virtually every other Fender guitar but this one.

You're welcome and of course, it's better to be safe than sorry. I'm sure Fender's Customer Service will help you out though. As to their omission for this particular diagram, I guess only they can answer that one. Again, good luck and let us know how you make out.
