Today I picked up a nice Squier strat that I think is one of the slickest guitars I've played in a long time. Great neck, pickups, classic cream colored covers/knobs. I checked it out when I got home and looked up the serial number. This series was made in Korea in 1995.

Anybody else have one of these mid-90's Korean Squier strats?

I do, a '90 HSS Stratocaster in what was originally pearl white which has turned a gorgeous ivory. Even the plastics have aged evenly displaying a "vintage" hue/tint. Check the posts under my screen name here and at the Strat-talk.com forum as I have pics posted.

You've got a fantastic guitar and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, It has a much sought after lightning fast neck, a "soulful Fender tone" and "sustain for days". Also check posts related to Korean era Strats at the numerous websites devoted to Fenders and Strats including the Squier-talk.com forum.

In the interim change the strings if "dull" and play.

Already changed the strings - I use 11s on strats. Looking at the route under the back plate (where the strings are inserted) this looks to be one of the "plywood" models. I don't know for sure but it doesn't matter to me. If I was concerned I'd switch the body for another Squier strat I have. Frankly, I don't care because I really like it the way it is and don't plan on changing a thing!

Thanks for the Squier-talk.com forum. I'd never heard of it but will check it out.

Thanks for the info. This guitar sounds and feels great so I hope I don't have any problems with them neck strap screws coming loose. I put a DiMarzio locking neck strat on it and didn't have any problems with the screws going in tight. I'm 51 and not rough on my guitars so I don't imagine I'll have a problem with the wood.

I don't know if it's just me but I like the pickups on this guitar. I think they sound nice and vintage. Maybe they're not stock (I haven't opened the guitar yet - no reason to) but I don't plan on changing them.
