Cheap Squier guitars are the right guitars for my small purse :)

I have a Fender MIM std Strat and a Squier Bullet Strat.
And I can play on both.

As for the Squier: It's great what you get for 79 euros :)
The Squier seems to be a solid and functional working guitar for that price.
The tuners could be better (but look at the price and you'll understand ).

- If you can live with the brand Squier on the headstock
- If you like the look and the action
- Then go with the Squier and enjoy it 8)

Some of the "expensive" Squiers looks kinda cool (classic Vibe Series, Vintage Modified Series for example).

Maybe I'll buy another Squier. But which one first :?:
I would say: Squier guitars are good for beginners cause they're low-priced and functional.
But they're also for professional musicians or price-conscious people.

I've only owned and played one Squier - it was a Hank Marvin signature from years ago. Beautiful guitar but after a few years I sold it on and kinda got out of playing. Then when I took it up again recently I really began to miss that Fiesta Red lovely. Despite the guitars I now own, I'd love to have that one back!

Personally i lowered the action, adjusted the truss rod a little and raised the pickups a bit. It sounds like a Fender American Standard! I can play everything from Clapton to Satriani to Metallica without a problem, I love Squiers. Who cares what the headstock says? Label snobs suck.

My friend took his squier strat to a profesional on guitars. He lowered the action, put a new tremblo, raised the pickups a lil bit....He says it sounds perfect tone he wanted!

There's no shame in Squiers IMO.
They are made with the same precision as any other Fender guitar. Sure the wood may be slightly cheaper, but in the end it's all just as good as a good old regular Fender.

Wow my CV 60 is made from Alder. Is this really a cheaper wood than most American made Fenders?

You kinda missed what I meant. By cheaper, I meant, easier to acquire, not "poorer in quality".
I used to play Ibanez until I played a Squier, which was what I could afford and it was the best thing I could get, and would still be if I could get a Gibson Les Paul. Fender just has a good quality to every work of theirs

You want cheap guitars, I give you the toy that is First Act!

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I am just glad that Fender offers so many choices for their fans. In the end, I guess the price of a FMIC guitar is proportionate to the amount of money needed for some one to spend to make it a player.

Tis' okay. No offense taken.

My Squier Standard Strat has custom pickups and an extra switch on it for active electronic operation. My Ibanez felt really cheaply built and the frets cut my fingers. That didn't happen with my Squier. Hence why I ceased playing Ibanez and converted to Fenderism. :P

I have Fender MIMs MIAs Strats and Teles...and I have 1 Squier Affinity Strat...the first guitar that my wife bought me...she didn't know guitars at the time and bought it for me as a surprise. I treasure that guitar. It has an incredible action/tone/playability and feel. If people have a problem with what you play...then have THEM buy your gear. Otherwise enjoy your guitar!

Anybody that has a problem with what someone else plays needs to focus on their own playing. most likely they suck if they play at all.

Anyway this thread inspired me to go check out a squire which I did yesterday. The guitar center out here must no have the good ones you guys are talking about. The ones I saw were all junk. They just looked, felt, and sounded like 20 dollar guitars. Im not a snob but I like something a little nicer then that. I know there are some good ones but how do you find them? Are they specific models to look out for. I friend of mine had a real nice one back in the 90's but he cant remember what model it was.

Sorry to bust your bubble but in addition to the Wal-Mart Specials, FirstAct also makes a USA made line that can run up to several thousand dollars.

This one will set you back $1,499

So I wouldn't go around making blanket statements about brands.

I am particularly impressed with the Classic Vibe, Vintage Modified, Deluxe, and their Artist Series. Play a few of these the next time you find them. As with any guitar, not every single one you pick up is going to be awesome. I have found some really poor excuses on Fender American Standards out there.
