There Two ends of the spectrum. Great sound and Durability. Pure nickel is recognized for its sound but lacks durabilty, Stainless has the durability but lacks on sound. Everything else is compromises of the two properties and falls somewhere in between. The goal is for the longest lasting best sounding string. But so is turning lead into gold. Demanding players want the best sound and are willing to change their strings often to achieve that. Others are willing to give up a little in sound for a long lasting string. You must decide where you fit in this grand scheme and choose your weapons. :?

It's not always the gun you shoot but the bullets you put in it.

It's all a matter of opinions and there many different ones out there.. Try what you will, but eventually it will be your opinion on what you prefer and nobody else's. Practice and have fun is my only advice. :)

There are many brand, styles, guages, and ect...

I have tries Ernie Balls Slinkeys, GHS Boomers, Fender Bullets, Elixers, D'Addario, and Dean Markley's. It really is a personal choice. I prefer the Fender Bullets on my guitars.
