it probably has something to do with the nut.

mabye you should go thru every screw on the guitar check that they are tight and check hardware for any looseness including the nut.

Split a paper match and put it under the string at the nut if that helps the problem your working on the wrong end and the nut is cut too deep. You may try going to the next higher gauge of string 0.010 - 0.11

Check the string tree for a loose screw. Try putting a drop of 3in1 oil on the nut where the string goes through. Just a thought.

If the buzz is only happening on the open E, then it is almost always the nut. and it's usually cut too deep. That's why I suggested splitting a match, or use a thin strip of paper to shim under the string. this way your only affecting that one string and its easily undone. you can shim under the nut but that a little more involved. you can also go to one size larger string but to a beginner that can be tough on the fingers for awhile. The match is about the perfect width and tough enough to hold up under the tension. It's just a temporary fix but works as long as that string lasts

The slot on the nut may be too wide, too low, or at the wrong angle. The match trick is your best option, as it is easily reversible if it's not the problem. You might also try Teflon tape (plumbers tape) as it will also act as a lubricant, but not last as long. Both may have a little effect on the tone, but at this stage I wouldn't worry about that. I wouldn't use oil on the nut. If you ever need to lubricate the nut (to combat 'nut binding' use graphite (pencil lead) or Teflon tape.
