I purchase a Squire Stratocaster by Fender serial# E920539 Made in Korea..... I paid $272 with shipping, which also included a new set of strings, a less then appealing Charvel hard case and a strap Did I get burnt, I bought this for my son's Christmas present so hopefully I did ok........ Any info that can be given to me would be greatly appreciated as I'm a biker, meaning I can tell you about Harley's, but i know LESS then nothing about guitars. I did by me an accoustic/electrical the other day to learn on though with my son :)

This was the listing for the guitar:

This is a Vintage 1989 Fender Stratocaster Squire. This is all original with the original floyd rose tremelo and the original tremelo arm.. This guitar has been professional set up and is in excellent working order. The action and inti=onation are excellent. The Floyd Rose tremelo system and locking nuts are intact and working excellent.

The finish is a rare original Mother of Pearl metalic white and is in very nice condition. The pick-ups are Humbucker, single, single, and offer an large array of musical coloring and tone. The neck is great and has an american quality and feel to it. They were still made with quality wood abd components.

Thanks for your help,
Rick

the seller of this guitar miss read the serial number. he was using the fender serial number format to tell you this guitar was from the 1989 instead of using the squire serial number format. thus, you guitar was made in 1999 and not 1999. in fender serial numbers the "E" prefix does stand for 80' but for korean made squires it relates to 90's. to further understand your guitar you will need to post some pictures of it. make a photo bucket.com account and copy the img code onto here.

anybody please correct me if i am wrong.

Actually not true, Squier E9s were actually made in the late 80s till around 1990. True Squier generally doesn't follow the same dating rules as fender, for instance an S9 Squier is not a '79 but instead 89-90 Samick made Squier. Here is my 1989 E9 Squier that I had.

Hey Yogi, I meant to tell you nice vid on the CV strats on youtube man. Nice soulful playing. After hearing the neck pickup in the '60s I decided to go try them out again. Eventually ended up getting the '60s. I've already played 3 shows with it, one was at the House of Blues here in Vegas. The guitar really sounded and performed great. I'm digging the whole feel of the guitar.

I think your video will help some people decide whether they like the '50s or 60s. It got me back in the store at least to take a test drive. Good job on posting it.

Sorry to be off topic.
