2008 Standard - Black and Chrome
2009 Classic Vibe
2005 Affinity (Modified to add a middle pickup)
2009 John 5
2008 Affinity Butterscotch Blonde

The J5 is my favorite by far. Its very heavy though...heavier than my Les Pauls. I have a Fender Deluxe Blackout as well. I love Telecasters.

Here's mine!
My first Tele ever. My wife bought it for me for Christmas '09. :D
She's a 2009 Classic Vibe and I love it!
It has the nicest flame on the neck and plays sweet!
I'll post pics of the neck soon!
(sorry about all the explanation points-I'm still really excited about it).
BTW that's a '65 Ampeg Reverb Rocket it's sitting in front of. :)

recently ive been considering getting a squier tele. id love to get the j5 but i cant afford it, so im thinking about the squier standard tele. can you compare the quality, action, shred-ability of the j5 and standard? how much easier is it to shred on the j5 compared to the standard? since the j5 has 12'' radius neck and standard has 9.5'' radius.

Hi Hurt-
Unfortunately, I can help you with the shred comparison. I'm primarily a classical and blues player. I have average sized-female hands, but my fingers are pretty long. So, I prefer thicker necks. The J5 pickups are pretty versatile. I initially thought it was a metal guitar but saw a demo on YouTube where it sounded pretty jazzy. The pickups are hot though especially the bridge PU which makes it good for metal. The setup and quality were just fine out of the box. It is a solid guitar, but like I said before it is very heavy. I got mine for $278 from Sweetwater...it was a demo.
My black and chrome standard is also nice. But I had to change the pickups. The stock ones didn't have enough bite for my tastes. The neck feels fine. It may be overall a more comfortable guitar to play just because it is much lighter than the J5. I don't think you can go wrong with either one of these. Both are high quality guitars. The standard may need a little more tweaking. Have you looked at the CV Teles?

thanks a lot for reply! :) im just worried if the playability of the neck (action, quality) isn't much worse than the j5's. the classic vibe series guitars wouldn't suit me because they have 3 saddle bridges, and without modifications its hard/rare to set the intonation absolutely perfect which is important to me. maybe if i can get a good deal ill get the avril signature (because of basswood, 22 frets, humbucker and quality since its artist series) and put some fret markers myself on if i can get a good deal. thanks for your help again! :D
