I'd start by getting the serial number...the Korean serial's are a little more telling than that MIJ instruments. Once you get the serial, take a look at this link...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squier

Now with that I have to add that from my own personal experience, the Korean or "MIK" instruments were really hit or miss (at least in regards to Strats...not really sure about Tele's but I would assume it would be the same). I've spoken with a few folks who have had some really sweet MIK's but the one I had...a '92 MIK Squier Strat...was really a piece of junk...very low quality instrument. Cheap chrome covered tuners, plywood body, crappy pickups...even if it had of been in good shape (which is wasn't) it still would not have been worth more than $50 tops (fortunately I got in it trade for a distortion pedal I no longer used so I didn't really loose anything). Ya rolls your dice, ya takes your chances...

As Telemaster said some pics would certainly help, but again I would start with a serial number. If the seller isn't willing to provide you with a serial number and some decent pics, I would simply walk away regardless of how inexpensive the guitar is.

Just my $.02 worth,
Jim

I have a 1989 Squier II Strat copy made in Korea. It has a great maple neck. Contrary to popular belief, the body is not plywood. The router used to cut pockets in the body cannot cut deep enough in one pass, so they must make a series of passes. What you see is layers of wood, giving the impression of plywood. I fitted a pre-wired pickguard from guitar fetish onro it, it has a very respectable sound. Fender has never marketed any instrument (Squier included) with a plywood body.
