Ok guys heres the problem I have, I restrung my guitar. Went very good, the first time I ever restrung my squire. Anyways while I was restringing it (and I know this sounds stupid) I played around with the screws(the ones inside the springs) on the bridge to try and make it easier for the strings to go through. Now my tuning is all sorts of jacked up and even though I use a tuner, I can still tell my string is out of tune. Im guessing I need to set the Bridge intonation?? If thats all I need to do then I know how to do it from watching U-tube. If its something else then... Has anyone on this forum experienced this before??

Those screws you adjusted are what controls the intonation. You can find some close measurements for setting them on Fender.com/support

Once getting your string height and intonation correct Never mess with the screws except for slight intonation adjustments after changing strings, if needed. You know what they say "live and learn".

Yes, the cool thing about strats is if you mess with something, you can't really break it. I thought I was 'screwed' when I removed one of the pickup screws on my first one. After pulling the pickguard off and reattaching the pickup, I looked at it as a learning experience.

I recommend trying to do a setup yourself as shown on the Fender website. You'll get a more intimate relationship with your guitar.

The one thing I'm going to add to what's already here is to remember that a guitar's "set up" is more than just the intonation....bridge saddles, saddle height, neck bow/relief, and on a Strat (assuming that's what you have) even the tension on the trem springs...all of these factors will effect one another. If you messed around with the saddle screws, yes...you probably screwed up the intonation. However you also need to remember that a guitar setup and intonation are not just "set it and forget it". I will typically check the intonation and setup EVERY TIME I CHANGE STRINGS...typically every month or two...more if I'm doing regular gigs. If I'm going to be doing an important gig or a recording session, I will change strings and check the setup a few days before hand to give everything a chance to "settle in".

Welcome to the wide, wonderful world of "tinkeritis" :-)

Peace,
Jim
