I would like to know if anyone has made pickup changes on the Vintage Modified Tele SSH ? I'm looking at possible changes in pickups or pick guards or pots and what results you were able to get.

Thank you!

What are you looking to change and why? It has 500k pots and humbuckers. if you change pickups and want to go with single coils you need 250k pots. Have you played around with the pickup heights that may help if you have a weaker pickup. As for pickguards you won't find many with that pickup combination. But there's a few places that will make anything you want from a tracing of the original. Check ebay and do a little web searching. if you after a particular tone give us a little more detail and I'm sure you'll get more feedback. Good Luck 8)

I have adjusted the pickups and checked on a few pick guards that can be custom cut. I just wanted to see if anyone had made some modifications in the pickups, changed out to others and what combinations they had gotten. I like a classic rock, southern rock and blues sound.

What kind of amp are you playing through. Some guitars just don't sound good with some amps. Before you spend a bunch on changing out parts you might pack your axe down to a music store and play various amps. Personally I've always liked a Tele single coil bridge pu (put one in a strat) and vintage or paf humbucker in the neck but the normal 5-way switch does not combine the two. You may be able to coil your pickups for more possibilities. here a link to a guy that custom builds controls any way you want. Most pickup makers have sound bites of the pickups but then there's that amp issue again. I would do alot of research before you start stockpiling pu's, pots, etc. check out the tele and strat forums but don't tell em you got a Squire some of those guys are Fender Snobs some are just SOB's The neatest thing about what your doing is making a one of a kind guitar and that's COOL 8)

I have a Fender Princeton Reverb and I also have a Fender Super Champ XD
so no problem with my amps, this isn't my first guitar either, I have modded out three others but this is my only Tele.
I'm now worried about snobs they are just someone who thinks the world should be like they are, I appreciate your comments.
