Is the vintage modified strat body the same as the standard strat body or is it a higher quality? Anyone happen to know? I know the standard seems to be a lot better made than the affinity, but is the VM body also a step up from the affinity? thanks in advance.

I do know the Standard is made from Agathis. The VM and Affinity are both made from Alder.

Food for thought, most Fender guitars are made from Alder. I know the VM is more closely to Fender specs for pickguard and pickup replacements.

I own a Classic Vibe and found it to be better quality than the Affinity and Squier Standards I played. I also found it better than the Fender Standards I played that day as well. The Vintage Modified series are right there with CV series in my opinion.

Thanks for the info, I will be getting my VM in a couple days and just started wondering that. I knew the other specs were better than those on the affinitys and standards but wasn't sure about the wood used. I had just played several and really liked them.

I could have sworn the site said Alder, but you are correct, the VM is made from Indian Red Ceder. Good thing I did not get that guitar since my whole family is allergic to. Ceder. (lol)

I played one in the store the same time I bouht my CV 60. The one I played was nice. I just liked the CV 60 better, I thought it had better tone. Was it the wood or the electronics...unknown, maybe both. Honestly, I thought the VM was made from Alder like the CV 60. I think you will be happy with your VM. They are great guitars.

I know not much help. I am sure you picked the VM series guitar for a reason and in the end your opinion is all that really matters. BTW please post pics when you get it, I'd love to see it.

Glad to have been of some help to you...
Now as for what RK pointed out, it is true that the "Affinity Series Strat(maple)" SSS body is made of Alder. But My "Affinity Series Strat HSS" Model 030-1620-025 specifications show (as I posted) that the body is "Agathis".I am just going by the specifications that Squier has published. Also my Strat came in a Affinity Series Set.I only live 20 minutes from "FENDER" in Corona California.Maybe they would take the time to check and tell me what kind of wood the body is really made of.And I could take the toure that I keep putting off.
RK, I always like to read your posts and reply's
