Anyone have one?.... I just picked up a beautiful wine red metallic master series Squier M-80 special yesterday for $50, it has one small scratch on the backside but is flawless otherwise, and it still had the protective plastic on the tuners and cover plates.....I did some searching and discovered they were only made for one year.. I'm wondering why?... and also, will this guitar have any collector value since it was so limited in it's production?....Thanks,Steve

I have a black one with the set neck. (I believe the specials were a bolt on neck, correct?)
I like it a lot. They were designed by Senior Master Builder Todd Krause, who makes Eric Clapton's guitars.

I odn't think you are going to find any significant collectability factor. They are slightly more expensive than they were but not enough to get excited about.

Couldn't get my head around the shape of that guitar, but also in that range was the Squier Esprit. Now that is something really special I think.

i don't foresee these turning into collectible guitars. this is going to be a niche guitar. for some squier nerd who has every color of the set neck version, and for some strange reason just can't live without the cheap one, might just jump at the chance to buy it. but i doubt he wants to pay much.

even the n00b looking for a total metal guitar isn't going to pay a ton.

it's def. worth $50, don't get me wrong, and i have a friend who swears by his.

but collectible, it's not.

Tried one of these out at a Sam Ash store when they first came out. The set necks seemed better quality. I liked how they sounded through Peavey amps (I have a Classic 30) and thought they looked great (different from the run o' the mill Squiers), but wasn't in the market for a new guitar at the time. That went out the window when I saw and jumped on a Squier 51 for $99.00 though! I'd still like to find one of these somewhere and maybe get lucky on a good price. Mike
