Everyone has what works for them or the way they were taught to do it.
Personally I have tried many different ways and posted the one that I use and think is the easiest on the guitar/knobs.

Thanks for the useful suggestions. I plan on taking in my guitar for a set up anyway so maybe they can look at the knobs.

Can you replace the knobs with funkier ones? I'm a bit of a funky artist so I always have to change something (but not the pickguard/faceplate. I love the colors on mine right now. I'll never change those)

hotrodperlmutter--thanks for the links. The one from GF has some nice amber ones to match my guitar.

EDIT: There are sets of four and three. Are the sets of three for guitar and the others for amps? I don't want to get the wrong size or type.

i've used screwdrivers to take off the knobs on every guitar i've owned (i've had a lot of squiers, fenders, gibsons, epiphones, sx, blah blah). never broken a single one. i'd venture to guess it's quicker and easier than using a shoelace.

but hey, if you've got a toolbox full of shoelaces, knock yourself out.

I do not have a toolbox full of shoe laces, but I do have a polishing cloth in my guitar case. I have used screwdrivers before, I ended up with small nicks on my pickguard, I won't use them again. But we must use what works for us...right?
