I hear a lot of good feedback about these. I played one at the local guitar center yesterday and really really liked it! My girlfriend is wanting to start playing guitar with me (she got me my first guitar to support me) and I want to buy her a guitar for Christmas.

I found a Red with Red Tortoise pickguard Vintage Mod Strat one Ebay. Talked to the guy for a while and got all the info from him. Says he has had it 2 years, played it about 7-8 months total, mint cosmetically, and no issues with electronics. Sent me a bunch of pics and it looks close to brand new cosmetically. Comes with a deluxe padded gig bag, cord and a Peavey amp.

Would you say $200 for this is a good deal given the condition and fact they go for $350 new? Plus the fact it comes with an amp and better than standard gig bag? Thought please because I think it would be a good deal.

It sounds like a great deal to me.
I can't seem to make up my mind about buying classic vibe '60s or vintage modified. But, if I had that deal, I would not think at all. If it's in the condition the guy says it is.
I wouldn't pass it.
But that's just me.

I was thinking the same thing! Plus, if she decided it just isn't for her, then I inherit the guitar by default! SCORE! And unless there is something I cant see with the pics, the guitar looks like it is in great condition with not a ding on it.

I haven't played a Classic Vibe but a guy I worked with had one and said he really thought it was a top notch instrument. I'm mostly getting the VM because she wants a red one. I'd imagine the neck on the CV is a little nicer probably a 50's-60's neck but I'm sure someone else here could tell you the difference.

I have a similar problem.
I want olympic white finish, but can't get one simply because there is no CV '60s with that colour, so I was thinking about getting vintage modified.
But then again, I don't know really. I want that '60s sounding stratocaster. Amazing guitar overall. If I had money, I would buy both guitars, just to sleep better and stop thinking about it over and over again.

Why would you think that? I have never thought about it. I like C shape neck, and I think that both guitars (CV '60s and VM) have the same neck shape.
CV '50s is different I think, V shape neck.

No, I'm sorry, they are all Modern C shape. I checked it.

I was thinking with it being labeled a "50's" or "60's" model it might have some type of V neck, thanks for the info.

I think that '50s necks were V shape, '60s mostly C shape and '70s U shape. Nowadays you can mostly come across C shape (modern C shape according to Fender), unless it is a reissue of a certain model from a certain year with different neck shape. But that's Fender.
Squier makes mostly C shape. As far as I know though.

And as for paying $200 for a Vintage Mod Squier Strat? Given it is in perfect cosmetic condition and functioning properly with the electronics? YOu think that is a good deal, too much, about right? Thanks in advance.

I think it's a great deal. You get an amp as well, right? If I were you, I'd buy it. According to the Squier price list, Vintage Modified Stratocaster is 550$.

So, I'd take it if I were you.

But only if it's as perfect as the guy says it is. Mint condition and fully functional.

If you buy it, let me know if you're satisfied. Maybe I take one myself. VM or CV '60s. Don't know yet.

The guy has sent me a pic of everything I've asked for and all looks to be good. I asked him to get me a video of him playing it and he said he'd do his best time permitting.

Yeah it would be guitar, a really nice deluxe bag, Peavey 15w amp, cord, stand, tuner.

This is the one. Man it looks sweet, and like I said best part is if she decided playing guitar isn't for her it becomes MINE! I definitely would like her to start playing but it's a win-win! 8)

Talked him down to $160 for the guitar and bag. Damn I both hate and love that times are hard for people when they are selling guitars this nice for so cheap, but I will take it! SCORE!

Alright! It would be nice if you could post pictures of her when she arrives. Or a sound sample. Anything! Thank you. Enjoy!
