Post subject: pickup help

I have installed Fender SCN Samarium Cobalt Noiseless tele pickups and and a new fender 3 way switch and replaced the pot with 250k ones and after I pluged it in the noise was awful I dont know what I did wrong I wired it just like the diagram that came with the pickups if any can help it would be welcome

What kind of noise? Feedback? Pickup hum? Perhaps make sure everything is grounded.

I agree with bowlfreshener...double check your wiring and make sure everything is connected correctly and that it's grounded properly (particularly anything pertaining to the bridge since you said this was a tele).

Also...and this might be a long shot but...after you've double checked your wiring, you also may wish to double check the value of pots that are required for the Cobalt pickups. I say this because I know that a few of the Fender after market pickups...such as the "Vintage Noiseless" actually require 1 meg pots instead of the normal 250 K.

If all else fails, process of elimination...also check your cables, your amp, any pedals you may be using, etc., etc..

ok I removed and replaced all the grounds and its better but still have a hum the hum goes away when I touch the strings or anything metal I dont know what else it could be I think its still a ground but I have checked and double checked any more ideas

Actually, even with properly functioning humbuckers and proper wiring, there can still be some hum which in fact, quiets down further when you touch the strings.
