Man, I'm sick of all that complaining about every little thing that really doesn't matter at all! There are a lot of guys out there that are just complaining about everything. I mean, you can read that Squier guitars are cheap, ordinary $@!&, because some of the models have single ply pickguard or because on the headstock there is "made in China", or "crafted in Korea"!
Who gives a $@!& where it was made if you like the sound and feel of it! Just play the damn thing, and stop searching and making up reasons for your lack of talent or inability to play. Just play! If you can, that is!

Not everyone is a Squire hater. I have an two American Standards, and I'm looking at several Squire models. Just because they aren't a thousand dollars doesn't mean they're bad.

Squier guitars were just an example. What I was trying to say is that there is always something that is on their way from becoming rock stars. Be it Squier, or anything else really. Regardless of the instrument they play. And I don't mean here on this forum only. I hear it all the time, so I guess I had to say how I feel about it in general.
I agree, not everyone is a Squier hater just because they are low(er) cost guitars.

Once on another forum I saw someone post about me and my Squier. They didn't know I could read it or they probably wouldn't have posted in the first place.

He basically couldn't believe anyone would be playing one of those crappy guitars and he thought it was some kind of joke. My Squier is also purple, so it's a double whammy. An import guitar in a weird color. The bottom line is that it sounds wonderful (I changed the pickups), and it plays just right. I'm never going to get rid of it or stop playing it. :)

He must have been jealous of your talent and could not criticize your skills so he talked about the guitar. Foolish of him!

If it makes anyone feel better, I hated the Korean Squier that I had. I really did. I actually dismantled it so that it wouldn't harm another human.

Goranm,

Welcome to the Forum. I own 2 guitars; a Fender and a Squier. I hate it when I see flack about Squiers. If I did not think it was a good guitar, would I have bought one? I recently took my Squier to a jam session and totally blew them out of the water with my tone. One person asked me what pickups I had in it, I told him they were the stock one. They did not believe me so for s&#ts and giggles I unstrung it and took off the pickguard just to show them. I then said that Squiers usually get a bad rap, but in the right hands they are a really great guitar.

Goranm - welcome to the Secret Society of Squier Lovers (SSSL). I have several in my collection (CIJ Vista Series) and have my eye out for a few more. I very much enjoy the ones I have. Believe me - they have a lot more music in them than I'm capable of getting out!

Anybody making blanket series about hating on Squier guitars ain't worth having around.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum Goranm. I don't even own a Fender and wouldn't unless i just came up on a really good deal or alot of money. I just can't see a couple hundred or thousand dollar difference between the two. I think if Squire would have more color options more people would be playing Squire instead of Fender. Most real players could care less what name is on thier guitar as long as it sounds and plays like they want.

I play my Squier Strat out often.
It plays as well as my Fender Stratocaster and it really has it's own
"quock" in 2 & 4 with the stock ceramic PUs.
It's entertaining to show it off in between sets to those who want to know
about it.
My only regret (and it's not a complaint) is that the neck isn't a high gloss
like my other guitars.
Sounds like a future project if I can bear to leave it home for a while !

Vin

Its definitely the player...I know, and sometimes play, with a guy who is way into Dimebag Darrell....has Dimebag guitars, pedals, and amps, yet does not get why he comes close to sounding like Dimebag, but not all the way...

Even if you somehow acquired all of your favorite players gear, chances are, you would not sound exactly like them, because while gear is part of what makes certain players sound like certain players, usually its the players hands, heart, mind, and soul that make them sound and play exactly the way they do...
