Hello All,

No stores I've been in have had the new
Squier J5 Telecaster. Anybody out there seen one?

Looks like a neat guitar. Here is the link.

Unique switching on this axe.

Cheers.

I bought one and I absolutely love it. The white binding, chrome pickguard and plate, the black headstock with silver "Squier". Just the prettiest Tele for the price!

And it plays and sounds about as sweet as my Fender Highway 1 Tele. The guys at the store were impressed by how nice of a guitar it is for $380 (of course the salespeople would say that) but my guitar teacher was also quite impressed by it. It's my second Tele and my second Squier.

It's a joy to play and I find myself reaching for it about as often as my Highway 1. I still recommend that you try and get one in your hands before you buy it, as everyone has their own preferences. But if you handle one and like it, as someone who owns one already I think you won't regret buying it.

The pickup switch does take some getting used to, but it's worth it.

And since everyone here loves pics, here's my collection with the Squier J5 Tele on the left, then a Squier Standard Strat SE, Fender Highway 1 Tele and a Danelectro DC59. Sorry it's not a better quality pick it doesn't do the J5 justice.

Bill - Sorry it took me so long to get back to ya.

The fit and finish is good. The fit is as good as my Highway 1 Tele. The finish is smooth and even and just looks pretty.

The switch is 1. Neck 2. both 3. Bridge. So pretty standard other than the fact that it's a toggle and not a slide and it's position on the body. What's interesting is the two knobs. Each one is a volume control for one of the pickups and there's no tone knob.

Thanks, the Dano is teh 2007 DC59 model. That was my first guitar. I love it, but since getting that and the strat I've kind of become a Telecaster fan. But I still grab the Dano every now and then, it's got a sweet ring to it.

I just got one yesterday, nice finish, except for that pickguard,
Neck pickup very smooth and full,( in clean mode)
bridge pickup very interesting mmmmmmm(ceramic) got to get use to it or
change it in future, but not so sure because in the middle positon with both
pickups an interesting sound pops up like a TV Jones pickup sort of sound,
like a bell sort of sound very interesting.
The neck is ok with 12"radius but I have the feeling when i play that the
strings are more spaced out the the other Fenders that I have, I checked it
out it is the same thing, very strange.
Hade to play a bit with the neck, action, put it to my taste.
A part from that for the price i cannot complain, got it cheap.
In all it is not a Tele, very different, for heavy distortion don't bother with
all these subitities, it comes across, its ok.
Oh Yea the swith is very cool, much quicker then the usal togle swith near
the controls.
Well got to go and strart dismantling it, paint the horrible pickguard,
change a bit of electronic parts, pots, resistors and condos.
See you all

I actually love the mirror guard but I can imagine it's a pain in the arse to keep clean.
