I know this question really is tough to answer without having played said guitar. Let's just say there was a Standard Squier Strat for $110. In a color you had been looking for in a Fender strat (you couldnt afford), cosmetically flawless, 1 owner, no case or bag.

Is $110 too much to pay for this guitar? Any thoughts? Because I think I have finally found my Standard Squier Strat!

Without playing said guitar, I could not tell you. The only advise I can give is play it yourself. Consider that it is in a color that you are looking for. Does it play well? Does it sound good? Is it used vs new?

I would not pay $110 for a used Standard Squier unless it was the shiznet (really awesome guitar).

I can't play it first because it is on Ebay. Are you saying you'd never pay 100 because you're not a fan of Squiers or because they aren't quality enough. I've played several over the past few weeks and the standards and classic vibes are quality instruments in my opinion. I know a lot of people don't like Squiers and I was once one of them. Other than having not played it (i've heard video of it being played by the owner) the guitar is in perfect condition in a shoreline gold color.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I am actually a big Squier guitar fan. I thought you meant a S.E. not a Standard. I remember a thread where someone was going to buy a S.E. for about that same price. And for an S.E. I would never pay $100 for one and I would want all the stuff that came with it.

I just saw a used Squier Standard on MF used for $183. If that is the case, then it is a great deal. Just make sure that it is a Squier Standard and not the S.E. that comes in the Strat Pack.

A few months ago I shelled out $299 for a Classic Vibe (just before they went up in price) and I absolutely love it. I bought it over the many Fender (MIM) Standards I played that day. Just a better guitar in my opinion.

Good luck with your purchace. And yes I would pay up to $150 for a used Squier Standard...that is about what they go for around where I live.

A new Squier Standard Strat will run you about $240, so $110 sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I've had mine for a couple of years, and I love it. 8)

great feedback, thank you my friend. it is definitely a standard. the color is shoreline gold and i have never seen one in that color. i already have a set of tonerider vintage pickups i plan to put in it. should make for a sweet axe because i have generally avoided squiers based on the feedback from some of the guitar snobs i hang around.

SNICOO038645 is the serial, any ideas about the year based on that?

wow, good deal! I thought 110-120 would be a steal, it doesnt have a case or bag and thats the only draw back. but the guy has good feedback and has sent me pics, serial number and videos of him playing it so i am going to have to go for it. it was up for bidding and i was the highest bidder at $95 when it ended but the reserve was 120

If I am reading the SN correctly it is Indonesian made at the Cor-Tec (Cort) plant in the year 2000=(IC00). Found info on Wikipedia.com

the bidding ended at 95 but that didnt meet the reserve, his reserve was 120 and i told him id give him 110 and he said yes. so im going to do a buy it now on weds and itll be mine! this is good for me because I wanted the classic 50's fender strat in shoreline gold but couldnt afford 750 right now so this one will do just fine and i already have some super pickups to put in it.

Unfortunately I do not remember them from back then. I have never seen a Standard Squier Stratocaster in that color. (that does not mean that Squier did not make them, I am just not sure). At that time I was stationed in Korea and did not come back until late 2001. Once I was back in the States, I did not look at new guitars until 2006. I was just too busy with work, school, and family to look at new guitars.

If those are pics of the guitar, it looks like it was played a lot. This is a good thing because the owner really liked it. It looks like it could use some TLC when you get it.

BTW What model tele do you have? You'll have to post some pics of both when you get your strat. :) 8)
