i'd say my MIJ Squier is better than the current MIM Fenders, and just about as good as the current American Standards.

ive been looking at them more and more lately, I cant afford a MIM Strat so i am going to go for a Standard Squier and just do my own upgrades.

The MIJ Squier Strats are considered Standards right?

They weren't called standards back in 1983/84. A modern Chinese Standard, although a decent guitar, is not the same quality as a vintage Japanese Squier. Also Japanese Squiers generally cost more than MIMs or close to the same as MIMs.

If you can't afford an MIM you might be hard pressed to get one of these:

Very Cool!

Your pic from 84 looks like me back then. I didn't buy any guitars after '69 until 2008.
