Picked up this '99 Squier indonesian made strat recently per S/N made in Jun 1999. This wasn't the best lighting on the photo, was outdoors, it appears purple. Anyone got idea on what this paint called appears stock.

I can't name the color, but damn I sure like the way it looks. The maple neck really sets the color off nicely.

Beautiful.

I have one, a 2000 with a rosewood neck, in the same color. I was told it was made exclusively for Mars Music (mine was an old rental from there), but I haven't been able to confirm that.

I love the look of that guitar porn. Errr, I mean, those nice pictures you posted. :D

in a sea of red/white/black/sunburst guitars, it's really nice to see one in a different and unusual color. And the maple neck just fits the look perfectly.

Can I come over and play? Lol. :D

It looks like Electron Blue to me, but it may just be the way my computer is making the pic look. It is a very interesting color, I love it.

I think maple usually looks better than rosewood except with some non-standard and more neutral colors (gray, lighter, etc.). Were I to go out and buy a new guitar I'd definitely make sure I'd get a maple fretboard, despite some opinions that they are too soft and wear quicker. An hour or two a day shouldn't cause premature wear anyway.

Here's my purple Squier Affinity Strat, made in Indonesia in 2000. Colors can be hard to reproduce accurately with some digital photography. This photo was taken indoors with a flash. The color as it appears here is pretty accurate to the way it looks with the naked eye. I would describe it as a medium or medium dark purple. Definately NOT blue of any sort.

I got mine as a Craigslist buy (for $60) from the original owner who lives near Falls Church, Virginia. There is a Guitar Center store there that, I think, used to be a Mars Music store before they went bankrupt and were taken over by Musician's Friend/Guitar Center. It is possible that she bought it there and, maybe, that it was a special color made only for them as you have heard tell. I can't confirm that either, but I suppose it is possible. I hope more people with these purple Squiers report in. See if a pattern develops. At any rate, mine is a great little guitar.

Got this from a guy at work for $60.00. Honestly, can't say I'm thrilled about the color. It's a 1999 Squier Strat Standard Series (double fat, or so I am told ((double pickups?))...) crafted in China. My first Strat. Don't know much about them. I love the way it plays though. Don't beleive it is gallactic purple. from what I have read, gallactic purple is a bit darker with metal flake.Image

GALACTIC PURPLE
was one of the colour options available when i ordered my squire standard tele in the late 90s.
i had to special order it and wait 6 months for it to come from indonesia.
i was hoping it would be metalflake.its not.looks best under florecent lights.kinda dull in regular light unfortunatley.
i think someone was experimenting with the colour.judging from the iimperfections on the back of my tele it was a purple basecoat with a tinted clearcoat sprayed on top to get a bit of a blotchy depth look.

nice sounding Telecaster
