Squier Cats and Kittens, (are there any Squier Kittens?)

Just bought a 93 Squier Strat MIM. History on it has been really difficult to find. So I'm reaching out to those more knowledgable. It has a black label
, but not like the other black labels that are used on low end Squiers today. It's more cursive looking. I'm on the road and cant really post pics, but I will soon.

Any info is appreciated.

The serial number is MN3XXXXX... right?

You have a half sized block, full thickness body, and most likely ceramic pickups.

All right, pics finally.

Here she is.

Here's the different logo I was referencing.

Here's the trem block. Jay was spot on. I didn't even notice. Two more springs will take care of that.

She's in really great shape for being 16 years old. I found her in a pawnshop in Beaumont, TX for $125. The neck is really nice, I like how well the tint has aged.

Any info on the body wood? Ash, alder, or basswood?

That is a really nice looking guitar. Congrats on the find. I am not sure about the specs on that particular Squier, but thanks for sharing.

I also have a MN3 Squier that looks exactly like yours. I'm not sure about the body wood. I have sanded some of the finish away and it seems like a softer wood than alder. Maybe poplar or basswood. Also i have heard that the necks and bodies for these were made in the US. Wishful thinking perhaps... although the neck on it is killer.

I just bought a MIM Squier Strat too. Mine says "Fender" in big black letters.

How does yours play and sound?

Do you have the Fender "squier series" or the Squier "by fender"? What year is yours? I like mine a lot. I am itching to change the tuners and pickups though. The stock pickups actually sound pretty good but since I bought it as a project I'm going to change them anyway. I'd like see how good the guitar can sound. My vol. pot is a little scratchy so ill probably change that out soon too. I would also like to change the trem block too. Probably fora GFS if it fits. Like I said above, the neck is a real winner and the body is fairly light. Lighter than my Jimmie Vaughan at least. A good wipe down with lemon oil really helped clean up the rosewood also. I would like to put bigger frets on it too. It really has something to say, esp. for 100 bucks.

It sounds amazing and the neck is fantastic. I have an AVRI 62 strat on hold at a local shop so I was playing her to see if I want to sell her and my Squier 51 or just the 51. It's like trying to pick which child you want to give up. Ugh.

Always good to see Squier kittens.

Here's my MIM Squier, made in 1998. A very nice guitar. Got mine for $100 including an amp and hard case. That was a good day. I was going to use it for a project guitar, but it's so nice I changed my mind. Great neck on this thing.

I just came across a Squire I have never seen before. Here are the specs;
Squire by Fender Stratocaster
serial # MN 8105490 Made in Mexico 1998-99
blue metallic finish (Agave blue??)
maple neck with 21 frets
Floyd Rose II locking tremelo
1 volume, 1 tone control
I have never seen a Squire Strat with this set of specs. Has anybody seen or own this model Squire??? Sorry, no photo as I did not have my camera at the pawn shop that has it. They are asking $300, and it is in excellent condition.
What do you think???? Worth it or what???

A Floyd Rose and only one tone control. Never seen that before. I'm no expert, but $300 sounds a bit high to me.

Try spraying some contact cleaner down into the switch. It's amazing how well this stuff can work. Makes the scratchies go away. Get a can at your local Radio Shack.
