No, but I, too, am kicking myself rather hard for thinking I would "pick one up next year....." I'm such a dumb $@!.... It was due to thousands of others exactly like me that led to the early demise of such a breathtaking Squier... While not Custom Shop quality, it was truly head and shoulders above every guitar within $500 of it's price....

No. I have an M80 and just missed the chance to buy a matching Esprit. If I ever see one again, I will snatch it up.

Damnit.. these are going to go cult aren't they?

We admirers are going to end up having to pay a small fortune for an indifferent example. I curse myself for not buying at the time - but the one I had in my hands was wine red and not the 'burst which I really wanted. But right now, I'd even have the black one..

If anyone here doesn't know what we're talking about - behold the majesty of the Squier Esprit..

I have the burst one. There have been some complaints of loose and rattling bridge hardware, but mine is tight. It plays great. I replaced the DD pickups with real SDs - a 59 in the neck and Jazz in the bridge and it sounds great. I wish they still made them. I'd be tempted get another.

I have the burst finish Esprit. I love it. It plays very nicely. I replaced the the DD pups with Dimarzio Evolution Bridge, and Dimarzio Super2 Neck. Totally brought the guitar to life.

I'm working on getting some push-pull 500K pots to do a coil split for both and make it a little more versatile.

The Esprit and the Flame became the basis for the Robben Ford signature series, which were discontinued many years ago.

I too wanted an Esprit. After some initial good reviews from the guitars provided by Fender at the NAMM, there were complaints of quality problems on the production models which made me hesitant to buy one so I lost out.

Couldn't seem to win a bid on eBay either. I think I'll look one more time.

Hey guys - New member here....

I picked this Esprit up at a used music store a couple months ago. Had no idea how sought-after they are until after I got it. It had no tag on it, so after checking online and seeing it posted for (what I thought was) $300, able to haggle it for $275. Got home, and was doing a little research, found out that the site I saw one for sale was in the UK, so it was going for closer to $600. Didn't Get a case, but I grabbed a gig bag for now... May go back and see if they have it (psst... If anyone can post a pic of the case, I will definitely look lol).

For those who want to know, it plays similar to a Strat, but sounds like an LP. It's my favorite acquisition (though my other electric is a Squire Strat Bullet for the mid 90's - one of the first Chinese made ones - which will be modified to hell very soon.....)

Anyways, here are a couple of pics of my baby.

I have a Black Esprit. Took me a little time to get used to at first, but now I don't have it in me to part with it.

I wasn't really a big fan of the stock HB pickups that came with it. I've made a few pickup swaps and found some interesting observations. The chambered body is very transparent. If a pickup is a little on the harsh side, it will be a lot on the harsh side in an Esprit. If its a little bassy, it will be a lot bassy. Etc.

A Gibson 498t and 490r set is very nice in these guitars. A Dimarzio Tone Zone on the bridge is pretty sweet too. I tried Duncan Phat Cat (p-90) pickups in it, and couldn't stand it at all. I guess my point is, be conscious of that chamber and utilize it. You won't be sorry.

Dropped a locking Tone Pros bridge in mine as well. Makes string changes and intonation a tad easier. Although, I never really had intonation issues with the stock bridge.

My Esprit hangs easily with my Schecter Tempest Custom and the build quality is just as good if not better. The bindings on my Esprit are cleaner and the neck-through allows easier access to higher frets as opposed to the set neck on my Schecter.

I bought mine for $250 off eBay and feel very satisfied by it.

Here's a vid of me playing mine live with the Gibson pickups.
