Hi there.

I have a Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster that i deeply love, especially for playing stuff like Pearl Jam.

But the thing is, now i'm playing in a Gothic Metal band, and started looking for something with more power...
That's when i stumbled upon the Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster® Custom, and i really liked the way it looks.
But i'm not sure if the humbuckers on that beauty can deliver real Metal-type tones...

Since i don't have the opportunity to try one before buying it, can those of you who know this guitar please tell me if the stock humbuckers are able to do Metal?

Thanks for your help!

P.S.: i'm talking about the Vintage Modified Tele with the generic humbuckers, not the P-90s version.

Its the player that plays the music, the instrument doesn't play itself...that being said, along with the right amp, metal tones shouldn't be a problem. I have one of those Teles, metal is not a problem...Teles and metal get along, check out John 5 who has played with Marylin Manson and Rob Zombie, and has several Fender signature Teles, and a new one on Squier...

+1

I've seen John 5 perform live, and he shreds on his Tele! 8)

My amp is a halfstack: a 120watt Laney head connected to a Crate cabinet with 4 speakers (12" each).

Do you think i'll be able to do really heavy stuff with the Vintage Modified Tele Custom through that amp?
I bought the Laney amp because it's great for metal (Opeth, Mastodon...), but the guitar pickups make all the difference...

And since i can't test this Tele's humbuckers, i'm a little afraid of buying something that can't deliver what i'm looking for!

Yeah, if you're hand is heavy enough, it's no problem. My friend who loves Metal does Van Halen and Metallica on his Roadhouse strat, with a Pearly Gates in the bridge, I think.

I don't think it will be an issue, but tone/sound is a very personal thing, so what I think is good may not necessarily sound good to you...
