Practice, practice, practice. If you can, take lessons. Have fun with it.

Depending on what you already know--you may want to consider a teacher to learn basics, or to expand on those or to learn a style.

Ask for recommendations locally on a teacher, and consider cost, location, flexibility and how lessons work.

Go in with an open mind--give it a shot.

You've apparently decided on a Squier so the next step is learning how to play it. Youtube is a great resource for learning. A teacher would be great but depending where you live could be a hardship. Look for easy songs and check out the mags a the grocery store. There is always something there for beginners.

The first song I started playing when I got my Squier was Hero of the Day by Metallica. Very simple and fun to play songs is what you are looking for.

Good luck and enjoy. If you are not having fun then don't do it.

Teachers are good. Find one you like and can work with. I like mine, but unfortunately we tend to spend more time talking!!!! Talk to all the teachers at the store. It's your money.......think of it as a job interview, which it is. I REALLY like my Tascam guitar trainer. You can get an older model off eBay for around 75 bucks. Find songs you love, and then start learning them. Make it fun, not work, and you'll keep it up.
