Well I am going to get my first electric guitar in a few weeks, I´ve been playing for about 7 or 8 months . But I don´t know what to get. I like the J5 Telecaster and the Jagmaster. I like metal, punk, rock and grunge. Well Thanks!

Those would both be good choices for you. Definately go with humbuckers or high output single coil pickups.

What type of amp are you getting? I'd suggest a Roland Micro Cube. It'll give you a pretty good sounding heavy distortion channel and lots of effects to play on so you'll save money on pedals. It's also good for cleans and for mild distortion as well.

Might I suggest a Squier deluxe Hot Rails strat?

It is versatile, and is very comfortable.

Or any HSS guitar.

Those are fine instruments as well, and if you are certain you want one of those two, I'd go with the tele.

Play both guitars. Play it on an amp most like yours. See which one sounds the best. I would think the J5 would be hot, but you won't know until you play. I really like those Roland Cube amps. Little package with a big punch. Also look in into the Vintage Modified Model. HSS configuration, good for your taste of music and could even branch out into something different down the road.

And if you aren't confident in your abilities as a guitarist yet (I'm assuming you are a beginner, but maybe you've been playing acoustic for twenty years. If that were the case than this post is irrelevant.) than it would be a good idea to take a friend who plays guitar along with you to help you pick one. Or you could ask a salesman to play them for you so that you can get an idea of what it sounds like. Just don't let a friend or a salesman push you into a getting a guitar you don't like. Play whatever you can on the guitars you're looking at, even someone who's never played before can usually tell with neck they like best.

+1 on taking a friend, if you are not confident in your skills.
