I just bought this, and the owner had no idea what the model is. Heck, he didn't even change the strings in ten years.
It appears to be unmolested, MIM, and a search of the serial # came up with the Ensenada plant, 1998/99

Description;

Medium metallic blue, with 11 hole WBW pickgaurd.
Humbucker bridge pup, and two single coils, all white. The singles have staggered poles.
Standard vintage style chrome tremolo bridge with six pivot screws, individually adjustable saddles, and no visible markings.
Maple skunk stripe neck, with rosewood board, 21 frets.
Small headstock.
"SQUIER stratocaster By Fender" on face
Serial number, and "Made In Mexico" on back.
Basic covered tuners with no markings.
No markings on neck plate.
Plain white rear trem cover.

I know it's not really valuable, but this thing plays and sounds fantastic, and I'd just like to know the model name, and maybe the approximate value.(it's near mint).

The closest new models that I can find are the Vintage Modded series, and they go for about $350. I'm hoping this one is in a similar range.

Thanks for any help.

Ok, I guess that this section gets very little traffic, or nobody here knows any more about this guitar than I do.

Oh well, if you viewed this post, thanks for your time! ;)

Do you have any pics? That might help.

If it's got a Fender logo on the headstock and a smaller Squier series on the ball end then it's pretty much a standard MIM strat with cheaper hardware.

The quality was hit or miss back then for Mexican strats so it sounds like you got a good one.

Sorry but I do not know the actual model other than it sounds like a standard fat strat. Like I said maybe some pics could help. :)

From your description, and assuming it is original, it is a Squier Standard Fat Strat, which was discontinued in 1998. The color is Midnight Blue and it is now worth about $150 in near mint condition. The last MSR was $299.

Appears to be a '98 Squire Standard Strat with a HSS configuration or AKA "Fat Strat". Love the color. I am not sure what else you may want to know. And yes the Squire Forum does not get much traffic. Sorry I have been at work most of the day.
