I'm getting used to my new Squier STandard Tele. I'm liking it a lot. One thing I've noticed, however, is that the action isn't as low on the Squier as on my MIM teles. I'm having a fret levelling and basic set-up done this week.

Just wondering - for those who own both Squiers and Fenders- is the action on the Squiers as low as on the Fenders?

I think it varies from one guitar to the next. My Squier Standard Strat has lower action than my Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster Special. So I don't think it's a Fender/Squier thing.

Each guitar no matter what make or model will be slightly different. Some you can get extremely low action, others you can't get as low.

Thanks for the replies. I'm taking it in due to a noticeable string buzz at the fifth fret. Hoping a levelling will help the action, too. It's not bad by any means, just not as slick as the MIM.

Other than that I love this guitar and wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

OK - here's how I settled the issue. I took the neck off my Squier custom telecaster and put it on the standard telecaster. Perfect fit, great action - very happy.

So what about the custom? I bought a nice used affinity strat neck. Perfect fit. Viola! Both are finished and working nicely.

I have a butterscotch blonde Tele Affinity with maple neck that I found on ebay, I can't put it down! The only thing I need to change is a lousy pup switch, and maybe tweak it with some stronger pickups.
