well ive been looking for an hour, and i gave up. i bought stratocaster from my friends father, and he told me that its like 20yrs old. i paid like 50$ so i thought that its true. i was wondering how old is it for real. and i was searching and searching... and there were several letters in serial code that would help me with getting the year of production. the problem is that my letter did not exist everywhere, and from what i see it should be like 99 years old now lol, its impossible :) this is how it looks like

i hope that someone can help me with that, its a little strange but maybe only for me :)
thanks in advance :)

btw, its been bought when there were communism in poland, maybe it will help :)

Korean Squiers

CN/VN: C = Cor-Tek (Cort), V = Saehan(Sunghan), S was already taken by Samick so Saehan(Sunghan) used V instead (Saehan(Sunghan) made the Vester guitars), N = Nineties (1990s), the first number following the serial number prefix is the year.

For example

* "CN5" = made by Cor-Tek (Cort) in 1995.
* "VN5" = made by Saehan(Sunghan) in 1995.

KC/KV: KC (Korean Cor-Tek (Cort)) and KV (Korean Saehan(Sunghan)), the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year.

For example

* "KC97" = made by Cor-Tek (Cort) in 1997.
* "KV97" = made by Saehan(Sunghan) in 1997.

KC and KV serial number prefixes are usually used on Crafted in Korea Squiers.

S/E: The S and E serial number prefix Korean Squiers are from the late 1980s/early 1990s. S = Samick, E = Young Chang, E letter serial numbers were used on Young Chang's Fenix brand guitars [1]. The first number following the serial number prefix is the year.

For example

* "S9" = made by Samick in 1989.
* "E0" = made by Sung-Eum in 1990.
* "E1" = made by Sung-Eum in 1991.

There were also Korean Squier serials with no serial number prefix and 6 or 7 numbers and the first number is the year.

*** EDIT: i just read through all that (after i posted, go figure) and i realized the G isn't in there. weird. sorry. happy hunting. ***

I picked up a Strat II on ebay, the s/n is E974674. It has a maple neck, nicely laminated, but I really wish it had more of a radius on the fretboard, it's really flat.

And here some info just about Squier II's

Quote:
Squier II's could not possibly have been assembled before 1987/88, as these represent the transition to Indian and then Korean production, and all the ramifications of such (the serial numbers can be off by years for these particular axes, and neck dates may also be misleading).
The S and E Squires seem to be from the late 1980's/early 1990's and don't seem to have a reliable serial number system for dating.
Some Squier II's were made in India around 1989-1990.
A lot of the Squier II's had a plywood body.

Try and ask the seller if they have some more info about the guitar.

I removed the spring cover on mine. I don't know much about wood, but plywood is usually sheets glued together. I don't see that on mine. I do knowthat it is a 1989 model, built by the Young Cheung factory in Korea. They focus primarily on pianos.
