New to this forum. I have two MIM Fender telecasters that I love and a Squier Custom tele that's a fine instrument (for $229? Are you kidding? This is one of the best values out there as I'm sure many of you know).

At any rate, I'm looking at a used Squier standard tele that I'd like to mod with a HB in the neck position. Are standard teles routed for a HB in the neck position?

No responses yet?

OK - how about this: how are the stock pickups in the Squier Standard Telecaster?

Thank you for your welcome. I've gone ahead and reserved this Squier tele. Even if it can't accomodate a HB I bet I'll still like it.

Hi william tel, and welcome to the forum! Sounds like you've got some nice guitars. How 'bout showing us some pictures? Nothing we love more 'round these parts than pictures of pretty guitars. Have fun! 8)

Thanks for the welcome. I don't have an account at a web image bank so I can't post images.

However, the Squier Custom telecaster is the black HB model with the HBs swapped out and GFS Mean 90s swapped in. Why not just get one of the Custom IIs with the P90s? I had one and loved it - wound up trading it in on the MIM tele with the MIJ neck. I missed the P90 sound. Hence, the Mean 90s.

I have one Standard Squier that I did an Esquire conversion on, and it was routed for a single coil neck PU, but I also own 3 Squier Standard Fat Teles, which are now discontinued, but those have a HB in the neck position...

Welcome to the Forum...Sorry I cannot help you as I am a Stratocaster man myself. I have been looking at Telecasters, but just cannot make the commitment to buy one yet.
