There doesn't seem to be much buzz about these anywhere, but I played one of the Thinline Tele's and it was honestly one of the best Squiers I've played in years...right up there in feel with my '84 Squier Strat, and that is quite an accomplishment.

I LOVE the Red VM Strat.

some of the vintage modified squiers look nice. the only one i've played it the tele deluxe-looking thing. i forget what it's called. it was mighty crappy, though. felt like it was made by a blind 2nd grader.
squiers are really hit or miss.

When they made the 100 dollar price jump from $199 to $299, I think they went overboard.

I have 4 Squiers and they were all fine out of the box with only minor adjustments.

Can you swap out a neck on the VM Squire Strats with a used Fender Strat neck without any serious intonation problems :?:

I had ( briefly ) the VM Tele with the 3 Duncans. Good looking guitar ( especially after I put a Bigsby on it ) but not so hot sounding. With pup mods, would be a great guitar. Mine was the black w/white pick guard. A bit over-priced for what you get. And the uber-shiney maple neck kinda cheapens it a bit. A rosewood fretboard would look good .Luckily I got all I had into the guitar on Ebay.

I've been very interested in the squier vintage thinline telecasters. I'm not to fond of the standard squier tele's, but I've heard good things about it and I LOVE thinline's. The only things I dislike is the rosewood fretboard and how it's a '69 and not a '72 which has the humbuckers.

Speaking of humbuckers, does anybody own or has played the squier vintage modified SSH telecaster? It has the maple fretboard, seemingly better pick-ups and it looks pretty darn cool in arctic white (against the black pickguard).
On my budget I'm looking for the next best telecaster cheaper than the $400 standards.

One of the guys in the band that went on before me over the weekend had one and I really liked the sound through his Pro Reverb. It wasn't r...re...red...though.  8)

Ive got a VM Tele Custom with 2 humbuckers, its a cross between a '72 tele deluxe and a '72 tele custom w. a black finish, black pickguard and a great maple neck. there was wood chipping on the edges of the neck when i took it out of d box, but no complaints!!

i got the action and intonation set up when i got it and now it plays and sounds beautiful!!! :D:D

I have a Squier Strat (vintage modified) HSS. I've let folks with much more experience than I play it, and they rave to me about it. The dealer I bought mine from takes great care in setting them up, and even offers a free checkup for the guitar after 3 months.

I've only been playing for 6 months, but it seems like you can spend a lot of money on an instrument, but if it isn't set up and then maintained, you'll be unhappy with it.

I've heard that Squier has been hit and miss in the pass, but I know that 3 local bands here have purchased these for their guitarists or singers, and have all been happy with them. I know I love mine.

The Vintage Modified Tele SSH only needs replacement of the Bridge and Middle pickups to be a professional model. Wet sanding the Back of the neck with 1200 will bring this guitar into Player's Heaven.
